If you need some initial funding to kick off your app idea as a startup or bring it to the next level, there is an great resource at UChicago - Uncommon Ventures is a student-run venture capital group created by the Career Advancement office whose goal is to provide seed capital to entrepreneurs affiliated with the University of Chicago. Uncommon Ventures typically invests $1,000 to $5,000 in promising startups started by University of Chicago students at any level. Uncommon Ventures is not actively seeking profits, it exists simply as a way to foster entrepreneurial spirit and to support the ideas that students have.
