Setting genes.on.nodes has unreadable results, overlaying all gene names on top of one another.

This doesn't seem vital for a v1 release, so I'll just remove the option for now. It seems like a non-trivial reimplementation. The feature can be added back in later on without affecting backwards compatibility.
