Shared resources are stored as binar #339

That way you cannot edit the file in an editor.

shared resources is more than just a config, so this seems reasonable. we can think about storing the config in an extra file.

In case you want to overwrite configuration arguments this is possible with the kwargs argument in reader_from_file. I am closing this now.
