In order to make the application look better, it would be nice to see a grid instead of just a solid black background. This goes along with a separate issue of labeling the x and y axis to know where you are at all times.
200pts - Major graphical element. This is a big change to the GUI and requires both understanding how the current panel works and adding new elements to it as well as modifying existing ones, like the black background.
