[~kosborn] [~theathor] and I had a good chat with Sean Horgan, product manager at Verily. seanhorgan@verily.com
He's interested in:
reusing the blue box across projects w/ Broad
reusing the data browser across projects (Melissa's work at Verily, she's talked with Hannes)
reusing the data portal for a landing page for projects (our primary topic today)
longer-term, he's interested in
a Data Library in Saturn that extends the concept of the current one in FireCloud, essentially a federated collection of Blue Boxes that advertise their content over the same API so you can build a meta data browser that aggregates across projects, letting users find data across projects (I think this is really where we want to go too with our collaboration with FireCloud/Verily)
a redeployable Commons or DCP stack that can be spun up for various new projects
So I think we're on the same page with Sean
Recommendation was that Kevin and Trevor coordinate with him and attend 1-3 meetings as called upon by Verily when they want to show something and we can include Sean and others from Verily when we want to demo HCA and Commons items leading up to Nov and Oct.
After Nov we would spend time looking for shared development opportunities... specifically Redwood and Blue Box. I think this is a huge opportunity for us that we can't ignore... much better to co-develop Redwood and Boardwalk with Verily/Broad than alone.
What would be good is to have one of you start a Verily Collaboration wiki page and start recording some info about who their team is, what dev contacts are working on what project, etc. So we know who Hannes, Michael B, etc could talk to.
And also to have you to be point people to Sean so he can contact you when he wants UCSC folks to see their work and vice versa.
Kevin can you introduce yourself to Sean if you haven't met him yet?
