This PR is admittedly too broad in scope. That said, here is what changed.
Patterns: remove one, update one, add one.
Typography: introduce a new modular type scale. This change sets defaults available in the editor, and sets defaults for spacing units and line-height based on the same scale. Combined, these options help maintain a vertical rhythm.
Headers and global footer: bring down the size of the global header and set spacing to the new scale. Add spacing above site name, again using spacing units from the modular scale.
Together, this PR begins to solidify the typographic foundation of the theme. Upcoming changes will include spacing between blocks, which is current set too small.
One more thing, this PR adds a site "style" (WordPress terminology) to experiment with the possibility of using styles to provide approved design variations within the theme.
