Site Title: Font weights? #246

el centro cclp philosophy

Seem different?

teresasilva71 commented 9 years ago

Here are a couple of more screenshots in relation to the page. The alignment is off, especially for Econ. Also seems that the MORE characters in the title, the bigger it gets? Should be the other way around: econ socsci

Looks like there has been some progress on this, but I'm still seeing issues (see clp-dev.ucsc.edu), and there are changes underway that keep this from being tested. Changing this to Critical because it's site titles.

knice commented 9 years ago

I have standardized site title font weights... which turned up a different issue, unrelated to this. But font-weights are now standardized.

Yay?

Font weight and size is better but alignment is still off. Can't tell if it's supposed to align with the top of the "Santa Cruz" portion of the logo? Some don't?

knice commented 9 years ago

Take a look again, I've been working on these intermittently as I come across them. Alignment is more fudgey now that the logo is bigger, but I think I've landed in a happy middle place.

I looked at every site referenced on this page, and they're all great. @teresasilva71 Open this back up if you see any problems. I'm closing for now.

Physical & Biological Sciences Undergraduate Affairs doesn't look right, see http://undergrad.pbsci-mobile.ucsc.edu screen shot 2014-08-28 at 5 23 19 pm

Another site using class="title-mega-long" is aapirc. Note: It's a "NEW" site so this one is not critical, but I think any department title using "title-mega-long" experiences this issue. I can't get it to display at http://aapirc-new-mobile.ucsc.edu but you'll see the issue in Cascade. screen shot 2014-08-28 at 5 48 24 pm

This should be resolved for the two mentioned above. Let me know if you see any more.

Yep, those look great.

I'm checking all the long site names. Note that they look different in cascade vs. published. Some (like Admissions) look like there's a problem in Cascade, but they're fine once published.

Here are some with problems:

Here are some I checked with no problems:

HistCon has pasted some text from MS Word into one of their homepage blocks. Surprise surprise, the text from Word had embedded styles in it. YAY! I removed them.

They all look great except: Records and Information Management Services. See: http://rimsvcs-mobile.ucsc.edu/

Still seems like the vertical alignment is off.

knice commented 9 years ago

Sorry. Thought I had fixed the HTML in the title block, but I hadn't. Fixed now.

dajoturner commented 9 years ago

Yep, looks good. Closing this issue (unless anyone finds other broken titles).

dajoturner commented 9 years ago

I'm going to reopen this and start listing sites that need a look in -mobile. I'll set to Important - it would be great to adjust these before people see them, but it's not critical.

I've tweaked the site title settings, which should fix ABOG (my new favorite CNAME to say to myself).

I also started an examples page for site titles. I'm using actual site titles, so we can get a feel for how the different classes work on different title lengths.

That page is here (some examples are missing, I'm adding them as they come up): http://ucsc.github.io/webtemplates2014/site-titles.html

dajoturner commented 9 years ago

Sounds good. I'm still updating sites to look at in my comment above.

dajoturner commented 9 years ago

I'm going to Close this again, since we haven't found any problem sites in a while. We'll re-open if something comes up.
