Simple Home Page callout box alignment or sizing issue #301

Closed dajoturner closed 10 years ago

dajoturner commented 10 years ago

Change in the width of the right-aligned callout box on the simple home page means images are not sized correctly. Not sure if you want to try to fix this, or ask users to update their images. See: http://clrc-mobile.ucsc.edu/

I can make images full-width, but that has trade-offs as well. I'll look into it.

teresasilva71 commented 10 years ago

I don't think making it full width is a good idea. It'll stretch them too much. They'll notice it and then they can go in and recreate the image to the correct size. The featured profile thumbnail is the only exception I believe.

@teresasilva71 So you're saying call this site specific, and let users manage these images?

teresasilva71 commented 10 years ago

Yep. The images look bad if they're stretched so it's better to let people fix them.

teresasilva71 commented 10 years ago

I can always add that tidbit to the release notes as well.

I agree with @teresasilva71. This is the one place on the site (right column pages) where the image situation hasn't bothered me. If we get a lot of feedback to the contrary, we can revisit the decision. But for now, I'm ok with images staying their current width.

@ajdaniels Publishing is complete, as of yesterday evening. Tom has published all but the "-new" sites, which aren't live anyway. It was all smooth. No slow downs. We published between 5-10 sites at a time and the system never got sluggish, at least for me.

Ok, setting this to Won't Fix and closing. @teresasilva71 I think adding to Release Notes is a good idea.
