Addition of $0 to bibliographic records #13

UC Santa Cruz Library is in the planning stages of enhancing our MARC data with identifiers (URIs) in order to facilitate the eventual reuse of MARC data as linked data. The Library plans to send approximately 1.5 million bibliographic records to a vendor for the addition of URIs in subfield 0 in access point fields of bibliographic records. URIs will also be added to 1xx fields in authority records. The updated records will be reloaded into the Millennium library system in preparation for our migration to a new library system.

I'd be curious to learn more about this, is there any documentation you can share? We've talked a little about doing something like this at UC Riverside (we're also currently on Millennium but preparing to migrate to Alma).

Noah, let me put you in touch (via email) with our Metadata Services department head, Marcia Barrett. She's overseeing project and has done most of the research around it.

John Riemer gave this presentation to the UC Libraries CMCKG on 3/5/2018 re OCLC's plans to include both $0 and $1 in MARC records to store both authority id's and URIs: CMCKG-Riemer OCLC Subfld 1 implem plans 2018-03-05 rev[1].pptx

Yes! I saw these when they were sent out during the CMCKG call, but didn't connect the dots back to this task force. Thanks, Kathryn :)

No problem - attaching a revised deck that John just shared that gets into when to use $0 or $1 depending on the dataset the value comes from:
