@murashka-ucsf and @ellestad is this something you could add a blurb on when you have some time in between working on projects? Users ask this pretty regularly, we think, so would be helpful to have published info.
When someone asks, I usually send something like this:
As far as using purchased Ziv storage for PHI projects, there are a few ways you can do it.
1) We can just create a /wynton/protected/group/ziv folder. In this case, it will share the Ziv quota and group membership with /wynton/group/ziv. However, only Ziv group members with Wynton PHI/Protected access will have access to /wynton/protected/group/ziv. Also, as the BeeGFS group quota is shared between two separate folders in group, it could be tricky to figure out where your usage is. 2) We can create a separate PHI subgroup for this project, ziv-phi for example, in /wynton/protected/group and allocate a portion of the Ziv quota to ziv-phi. This is handy if you want to keep the PHI and non-PHI quotas separate. 3) If the group of collaborators is not the same as the ziv lab group, i.e. it involves less than the whole Ziv group or involves members outside of the Ziv group, we can create a project folder in /wynton/protected/project, allocate a portion of the Ziv Quota, and have a separate membership list from the Ziv group for that group/folder.
Added a FAQ section to the storage purchase page.

https://wynton.ucsf.edu/hpc/about/pricing-storage.html lacks info how to migrate existing lab storage quota to PHI.
