LCD not working with Pico 2 RP2350 #2

One can fit the device with a Pico 2 RP2350 board, the VM works fine, disk access to SD card and the RGB LED are working, but the LCD shows garbage. Tried with SPI clock frequencies in the rage 5 - ~40 MHz makes no difference.

In the meantime I also tried running the RP2350 with 125 MHz instead of the default 150 MHz. Doesn't help, timing for clocking commands/data into the shift register must be off the limits in some way. Guess needs logic analyzer to compare protocols and see the difference.
