Failed to create symlink to TIRViews.dll and mfc42u.dll. #117

I have followed the directions to install Linuxtrack, and everything works as expected with my TrackIR 5. When I run check_data.exe, I receive the following messages:

Failed to create symlink to TIRViews.dll! Some games will not have headtracking available.

Failed to create symlink to mfc42U.dll! Try to install TIRViews support in ltr_gui, or install mfc42 into this bottle using winetricks.

I have not been able to find this issue nor a solution yet. I anticipate it is a simple problem, but as of yet it is beyond my simple knowledge.

I run Ubuntu studio 16.04, and I am attempting to get IL2 Sturmovik 1946 to head tracking.

I'm so close! Any help would be appreciated.

Hello, if it is IL-2 you want, these two problems should not cause any problems; TIRViews.dll is NP's hack lib used to implement headtracking in applications that do not use their SDK, and mfc42.dll is its dependency. Since the IL-2 uses the official SDK, you do not need those. Just install the linuxtrack-wine.exe (manually or via ltr_gui) into the prefix/bottle where the IL-2 is, set up the controller and run the IL-2 - that should be all that is needed (works for me)... Kind regards, Michal

It works now! Thank you for clearing that up for me. Now I just need to stop this horrible twitching.....

Good... As for the tracking stability, ltr_gui is your friend... Consult the help - there are troubleshooting advices... And don't hesitate to contact me, if you stumble upon a problem that you can't solve... Kind regards, Michal

So I've tried tweaking the zones, increasing and decreasing the dead zones, sensitivities, and I don't know what else to do. while I wait for any advice, i will try looking for others who have encountered the jerking motions, but I am not sure what I will find. It jerks severely when i am looking down, and the jerking seems to be up and to the left, from what I can tell. Sometimes it is very severe, other times it is very subtle, but frequent enough to invite discomfort and loss of concentration.

Again, I appreciate your help, Lydon

I seemed to have figured it out; Light was the issue. so In researching in the issues log on this site, I found that someone else was having issues at certain times of the day. so I troubleshooted my setup. I am sitting near a large sliding glass door facing south-ish, I had two track-mounted spotlights giving light to the area, and there was piece of black duct tape covering white words on the cap I am using for the cap-mounted tags. eliminating these problems has greatly reduced the jerking and twitching to nil; save for one random degree to the left of me that seems to tweak out a bit every time I pass it.

I had no Idea so much light would be a problem, neither the piece of black duct-tape; I figured that I was doing the trackir a favor by covering the white words, but much to my surprise, it works despite the large white lettering.

Thank-you again for your hard work in refining TrackIR for Linux! Lydon
