Questions for the Sparrow presentation on Monday #6

Here's some questions for you to answer before Peter's presentation on Sparrow: distributed, low latency scheduling.

  1. The drawback of late binding is that the worker is idle for awhile. How can you improve this? Ibrahim Umar
  2. Is it possible for a distributed scheduler such as Sparrow to support a Hierarchical architecture? Pro's con's Håvard Mathisen
  3. What are the difference in Sparrow's scheduling approach compared to workers simply pulling tasks from schedulers? What if the constrains include completion deadline for jobs? Bjørn Langaas Johansen
  4. How can Sparrow be extended to support more constrains, I/O load allocation and priority scheduling Vi Tran
  5. How does Sparrow handle heterogeneous clusters with competing workloads? For example, jobs might contend for GPU resources, but be OK with scheduling on CPUs---they will just take longer.Eirik Mortensen
