Suggestion: When Egypt takes the "Egyptian Levant" decision, GPs should lose access to the CB to reclaim the Levant #97

It's both annoying to an Egyptian player to have that threat constantly hanging over their heads and some of the most ugly shit I've ever seen results from it. Just look at this shit v2_2

I agree with you that the map turns really ugly when Egypt wins, but really I think the entire claim the Levant CB is pretty suspect. Maybe the whole thing should have an event chain similar to the Crimean War where Egypt has to choose between whether it should protect Christians, and which Great Power should protect them?

I think that would be a better option for certain; Claim the Levant only really makes sense for France or Russia to pursue, and Russia doing so is monumentally ugly because it has no land border anyway. Egypt deciding whether or not it will continue to protect Christians and seeking an ally to legitimize its claims makes more sense, though I don't know what the outcome would be if Egypt refused to protect the Christians, or if they couldn't find a GP to back them. It'd be right back to square 1 if it was possible for an outcome to just result in the Levant CB being given again.

I just thought of a pretty obvious solution which I'm surprised didn't occur to me before. I agree with the event chain idea - if Egypt claims the Levant, Egypt will get an event where they are pressed to select a Christian GP to approach with the request of overseeing the protection of Christians in the Levant. If the GP accepts, Egypt will lose a certain amount of prestige and automatically enter the sphere of influence of that GP. If Egypt declines, the Seize the Levant CB will become active, but can now only be used to seize Palestine. If the war is won by the GP, Egypt is still forcibly brought into their sphere and, perhaps as a bonus, Lebanon's religion could be set to the closest Christian denomination to the victor, to represent an even more direct hand in Christian affairs in the Levant than there would have been if Egypt just surrendered some authority upfront.
