Create links with RDA Working Group on TREs #34

Detail

There is an emerging working group at the Research Data Alliance on TREs for Sensitive Data. The group charter is in draft right now, with the intent (announced at the 21st Plenary BoF session in Salzburg ) of finalising and submitting by end of 2023. For all RDA can be stop-start and patchy in its impact, it has a global audience of research data professionals and UK-TRE should find the right way to engage with this group in particular. Sharing outputs, feeding in a lot of the great stuff the UK does, etc. Probably needs individuals to sit across both; @rmbaxter67 is co-chair of the RDA group at the moment.

I can't see an obvious way to assign this to myself, nor do I see a way to associate this with the TRE Community project.

I'm happy to follow and contribute, what's the best way to be notified of things?

At the moment the "group" isn't an endorsed Group so it doesn't have mailing list etc. in place at RDA. Not sure who is able to read the draft charter via the Google Doc link? Reviewing the charter is a good place to start. The first draft was pretty ambitious for an 18m working group, although we do have a lot of prior art to import (eg, SATRE, some of DARE UK's work).

@rmbaxter67 is the current de facto link to RDA for the UK TRE Community, and is becoming co-chair of the RDA Working Group on TRE-SD (TREs for Sensitive Data). Further crossover already exists (e.g. SATRE mentioned in charter).

At the moment this connection is still quite informal/undefined. We'll leave this open until the working group is properly established and then take it out to the community
