Seems fine to me- it's a general discussion list. We've talked about a announce-only or newsletter list which I think is a better solution for people who just want notifications of what is happening, as opposed to trying to compromise on a single list.

WGs and other members may need and want to get feedback from the community, but also involve them in surveys and other work/research activities. How should they involve the whole community? Send around an email to the entire mailing list?

• Could keep the mailing list fairly open, manage itself and be open for discussions
  • This would also need an alternative quieter list or newsletter
• Issue has come up repeatdly, some members feeling strongly the need for a second mailing list and/or newsletter
• This way of communicating for WG could also help in getting participation when otherwise during a community event people may choose another breakoutroom
• There is consensus on the need for a second mailing list, the new one will be the digest
