@jasonwebber-bl It looks like we're being asked to remove the current Privacy Statement and simply point the users to the BL Policy at http://www.bl.uk/aboutus/terms/privacy/index.html. How does this work from a design point of view? Currently we have a full page of text at this page.
From the technical side this needs @anjackson input.
One thing to bear in mind is that UKWA <> BL
thanks @ldbiz could we leave this for @jasonwebber-bl and Ian Cooke to come in on please? Thanks Lee,
I was thinking it is more of a design decision:
• Jonathan asks us to replace our text with a link to Privacy Statement on the BL website. Do we go with this? If so, • Do we need to send users to a page with just a hyperlink on it? • Does the ‘Privacy Statement’ get removed from the menu and we just have a link at the bottom of the page?
My two pence worth would be to remove Privacy Statement from the menu and have it as a hyperlink to the BL’s policy (apart from anything else we would rely in the BL for compliance with GDPR etc) – however, our website is not just a BL product but a LDL product.
I suspect that we want a page that explains the situation in more detail? e.g. "UKWA is provided by all these folks, but run but the BL so this linked policy applies" if that turns out to be the way things are.
But I suspect it'll take a while to make that decision, so in the short term perhaps we should just directly link to the BL statement?
Sounds sensible.
I'm not massively keen to take someone off the site without explanation. Could we change the link to:
Privacy Policy (British Library website)[new window icon]

Hi Nicola,
We’ve received a comment that the Privacy Policy for the Web Archive at https://alpha.webarchive.org.uk/en/ukwa/index is out of date, not compliant with GDPR, and inconsistent with the main BL Privacy policy.
Are you responsible for the site? If so, please could you arrange to point the Privacy Statement link at the bottom of the page to the main BL Policy at http://www.bl.uk/aboutus/terms/privacy/index.html, which covers all websites owned by the BL Board?
And if not, please could you pass this message on to the relevant person?
Many thanks, Jonathan Fryer Head of Corporate Information Management Corporate Information Management Unit E: jonathan.fryer@bl.uk T: 020 7412 7334
