@dovfrede and @mtclaffey please work on this page after you've completed a transcription of 0005. This will be our practice on the more complex technical features. Thanks!

HI @trevormunoz and @mtclaffey, I'm beginning work on this page.

ghost commented 12 years ago

@trevormunoz and @dovfrede, I'm also beginning this page today.

made some encoding decisions I thought we should let you know about.

  1. Denote hands using @resp w/the appropriate intervention element (mod, add, del). We’re excluding handShift from the project. a. Apply initials for the appropriate scribe or author (i.e. <del resp=”msw”>). b. Take a look at the Frankenstein word files to watch for the interventional text in blue—this denotes Percy’s (pbs) intervention
  2. I don’t think you were doing this, but we’re using @type for more abstract judgments/categories (e.g. @type=”subst”) that don’t have to do with visual display. For visual display, such as strikethroughs, apply rend=”strikethrough.” For spatial relation of an intervention to the line, apply @place=”superlinear”, “sublinear”, or “intralinear” (intralinear indicates a superimposition or a correction written next to a deletion within the line)
  3. For these attributes, Trevor will be providing a controlled vocabulary at a later date

Hi @mtclaffey

@trevormunoz made some encoding decisions today:

In the related page of the scholar’s Word transcription file (corresponding to our “ox-ms_abinger_c56-0011”) we have the glyph ✗. How are we handling these? Do we want to retain this electronic rendering as is, i.e. copy and paste it directly into oXygen? Or shall we use some glyph placeholder element such as <g>?

trevormunoz commented 12 years ago

We're going to use the <metamark> element. So, <metamark>X</metamark> will be fine. We don't need to capture the rendering of the character exactly since we have the facsimile images.

Hi @mtclaffey and @trevormunoz,

I've executed a pull for my recent commit. In addition to general feedback, I'd like to request specific feedback on the <ptr>/<addSpan>/<anchor> encoding. This was my reasoned approach to the marginal intervention by mws.

I'm here till 10 or 10:30AM, but I should be back on line later today. Thanks!

Hi Trevor,

I'm sure you're super busy, but could you tell me whether I should move on to another page? I'm not clear on the outlook for the coming week, but I know you probably have some comments on my recent work. We could arrange a live communication if you prefer; the weekend would be ideal.

Thanks very much for your time.

Best, Dov

Hi Dov,

Yes, go ahead and move on to another page. I will try to do reviews as quickly as I can but you may complete a few pages between check-ins given the number of projects underway here.

Thanks,

Trevor

Under Review, c56-0011, DJB The encoding reflects the latest changes to the schema. Mods within the main body are clean, but encoding the marginal additions and delSpans in the main body may be more trouble than it's worth in this case. Keeping the delSpans is cleaner since using mod would require a number of "next" attributes and nesting problems. I'll keep this issue open for the time being until we can discuss it further.

I also noticed that the "hand" attribute is not allowed within addSpans yet. It's not a problem here because we can identify PBS's hand in the add element that surrounds the pointer.
