Discussion of privacy and permissions

Sometime linking and listing can be unwelcome depends on content and users. I'd like to talk about these things here.

At first, I list my questions here to start.

• Can I list without asking? Or can I create issues in EVERYBODY's portfolio repository? more than 1000? Which is more welcome thing?
• Blacklist way?(people who don't like have to say) or whitelist way?(everybody have to answer)
• Is there clear, silent, not advertising-ish, not selfish way to notify owners?
• What does differ from what google does?
• What part of my listing is unwelcome? Linking? Making gif? How can I turn it welcome thing?
• Can I sum people's benefit(loss) as utilitarianism and can keep going if sum>0? Or should I stop even if only one person don't like it? If it's not simple sum nor being perfectionism, where is the line?

ANY opinions are welcome! I like ethics and philosophy. Thank you!

Opt out sounds fair to me. If the website is publicly accessible, I don't see why it can't be archived. archive.org has been doing that for decades. Services that showcase a website by screenshotting it in different browsers aren't much different. Allowing users to opt out from being archived sounds reasonable.

Maybe you could scan for the LICENSE file if it's included? GitHub provides some information here on License files. I think what you're doing is fine though. If a portfolio site is hosted on GitHub Pages, it's likely open source by default unless they are running a private repository. Even then, you're just showing a small gif of the site. I don't think there's anything wrong with that. If someone dislikes their site showing up on the list, they can opt out or contact you if it bugs them.

@JasonD94 Thank you for sharing your idea with helpful links. The idea sounds nice and I need to study about it. I can't take my time so much for this project right now, but this thing should be considered!
