@paintedstork I have attempted to contact the curator at the UCZM to alert them to this issue. It appears they may be unable to address any issues for a time. If you need me to follow up again, please let me know. In the meantime, here is the auto-response I received, some of the links may be of use.
The Museum is currently closed for an exciting redevelopment. As such we are extremely time limited.

Thanks for your patience during this busy time.
Thank you very much Sir,
There is no urgency. As long as someone attends to it at some point in the future, it is fine. Would it be OK to keep this issue open so that the right people can get to it when their time permits? If not, any other alternate process which does not involve me raising a fresh github issue so that this point is not completely forgotten?

During Jerdon's times, this would have meant Madras presidency - which is a wide area covering present day Tamil Nadu and northern Kerala. Is it possible to get to the original tag and find the actual location? Rasmussen & Anderton (2005) includes "Madras" coast in its range - probably based on this specimen. Jerdon reported a Sterna from Ooty lake, identified as Sterna fluviatilis [=Sterna hirundo] which Hume's commented that it is most likely Sterna albigena [=Strena repressa] or Sterna tibetana [=Sterna hirundo tibetana](Stray Feathers Vol 10: pp:418). I wonder if this specimen would relate to that record and can the identification be ascertained ? thanks & best rgds Praveen
