Entirely Revert Academics Testing Changes in TA Applications #442

This PR entirely reverts all of the testing changes made in the TA Applications feature merge, as these changes broke the tests and also reduced testing coverage. The academics feature is now at 100% coverage and all tests pass.

This PR closes #438

If this still needs merging, go for it @ajaygandecha; though it looks like some conflicts may have cropped up (can't really see them from iPad's UI-- still at airport)

@KrisJordan don't think this needs fixing anymore with the merge of office hours.
