Currently, when the side panel is open, it hides the displayed content in the view.
Instead, it should push the content to the side.

If we are going to animate this, I have concerns that this might cause a lot of jankiness while everything is dynamically resizing to accommodate the side panel. Probably worth trying it out and seeing if this will be an actual issue.
