Description

This PR bumps dependency versions, Go version and updates the project according the latest version of Kubebuilder.

The CVE-2024-24786 is also fixed in this PR.

This PR contains a lot of changes that are not necessarily related, including one (possibly two) feature updates. We should really have individual PRs for these.
