Import changes and improvements from Unee-T INS

Why we are doing this:

We spent time on the Unee-T INS fork to remove hard coded values that should be placed in variables.

We do NOT want Unee-T and Unee-T INS to diverge more than what's strictly necessary. This PR is to do this.

Things to keep in mind:

You need to make sure that all the variables are properly declared:

• In the AWS parameter store
• The the Travis CI settings for this repo.
