New Settings tool and refactoring of the aerial basemap #704

Add a new Settings tool in the toolbox to allow users to customize their application (e.g. light/dark mode, water & vegetation themes, default basemap).

This development requires:

  1. creation of a UI for Settings
  2. refactoring of the aerial basemap i.e. on/off method that takes an argument to specify the data source (e.g Mapbox, Sentinel-2, Bing)
  3. add a new input in Settings to allow users to define the data source of the aerial basemap (default = Mapbox)
  4. integration of the changes made to the aerial basemap to the story map engine: drop-down list with all data sources (i.e. user defined, Mapbox, Sentinel-2 ...)

There will be cleaning to be expected in the story maps to migrate to this new aerial basemap tool rather than using satellite views. Once this is done, satellite views published in different MapX projects will no longer be useful and therefore can be deleted.

The idea of developing a 'Settings' tool is good, but since this issue was opened, MapX has undergone a lot of changes and the refactoring of the aerial basemap has not been mentioned anymore. @PierreLacroix Is this refactoring still needed? If not, can I close this issue?

We can keep it for now. The list of base maps can be completed later with others, e.g., Sentinel, especially if we move towards a remote sensing module
