Customisable physical buttons outside of activities #235

Is there an existing issue for this?

Description

I would like to be able to configure the physical buttons on the remote control outside of activities. That way I don't have to be in an activity to control entities. For example, I would like to be able to use the physical buttons to manually switch on a Philips Hue socket first (power for the HiFi rack) and then start an activity.

One way to integrate this would be under "Profiles" where different pages / entities can also be added to the remote control.

Other remotes call this "punch through" where in an activity or on the home page, a button is reassigned to control something outside that page or activity. I would love to be able to have the navigation buttons control my xbox on the home page at all times and use the touch screen for nav on the remote

Is there any news as to whether something like this is planned? Now that long press is supported, it would make my daily use much easier.
