It would be great to allow the creation of single "merged" device entities that use different connectivity/command sets from several different entities.
A lot of devices offer different integration possibilities (e.g. you can integrate devices via IP, Homeassistant but also via IR)
Unfortunately often the capabilities/commands differ between the different integration channels.
There are several situations where you might need commands from different integrations for full or best connectivity/control
(e.g. some devices will only be available to control via Homeassistant if they are switched on, so you have to switch them on via IR, before you can start using HA based control to achieve a more reliable control than IR)
currently it is necessary to create two entities to get the full possible set of controls
leveraging two entities for a single physical device in combination with UI and activities makes it extremely complex (especially for error fixing and activity group handling)
offering an ability to create "merged" entities that combine command sets from different existing entities would allow to leverage this centrally configured entity for the overall device handling for UI and Activity / Activity Group handling.
Is there an existing issue for this?
