Problem updating manually installed extensions #224

I can not remember that I had this issue before with "normal Chrome". I installed 2 extensions (Metamask and ublock origin) manually from the un-zipped zip-bundle, however if I install a newer version it does not update the current version but installs a 2nd instance in parrallel - without the setting from the 1st install (so no accounts from Metamask).

If I go to Google Webstore using the extension as suggested in #217 / https://github.com/ungoogled-software/ungoogled-chromium-archlinux/issues/217#issuecomment-1436987286 if only offers to uninstall the initial installed version.

How do I go from here without loosing the configuration (accounts) from the previous install ?

Exporting settings, reinstalling the extension via webstore extension, importing settings back.

@PF4Public Thanks, looks like the (only) way to go. Btw, is this a known problem with ungoogled-chromium ?

I think this is how unpacked extensions supposed to work notwithstanding ungoogled-chromium.
