Hello all, two general questions about publishing OntoUML projects on GitHub:

luizbonino commented 6 years ago

What kind of projects are we talking about? The OntoUML editor?

MarekSuchanek commented 6 years ago

Projects from the "model repository" (Tiago provided me a list) that are supposed to be moved to GitHub... I've already moved this one (https://github.com/OntoUML/UFO-S) as first example.

After having them on GitHub (with own history, issues tracking, ...) we will connect them with our community portal.

I'd say that the creators of each of these projects should decide on the license. Or we can define that, at least initially, we will assign a CC-BY or MIT license on every project, then the owners should agree or not on allowing us to publish the projects in the portal.

Before I uploaded the projects on menthor.net, I explicitly asked the authors for permission. However, note that some models have no identified authors (see http://www.menthor.net/banking-operations.html), since they asked explicitly to remain anonymous.

I believe using the MIT license as a standard option is a good idea and I can contact the authors again for their authorization.
