No power between CN105 pin 2(GND) and pin 3 (5V) ? #6

I've just connected things up for the first time and I KNOW I didn't short anything because I went above and beyond to prevent that, but I get nothing.

I used pre-crimped wires and I have not connected pin 1 on purpose as I didn't want to risk 12v going anywhere it shouldn't. I've used a RJ45 socket at the other end of the cable to prevent shorts and I tested for continuity on each pin end to end and confirmed there were no shorts (before I even opened up the Mitsubishi).

Has anyone come across this sort of problem and were you able to solve it?

I had left an rj12 plug protruding from the back hope to get back to this at some stage and I just plugged in the device, as before... and now it works perfectly!

What changed?! I didn't do anything.

I mean I'm glad it's working, but I'm also baffled..

Here it is externally mounted in a flush mount telephone socket enclosure: IMG_5877-1
