[FEATURE] Make `!move` more noticeable #189

Closed miffi closed 2 years ago

miffi commented 3 years ago

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.

screenshot_2021-07-21_21:12:22 I always mentally omit out the move commands other people do. Robbb's message is hard to differentiate it from what other people are saying, especially when chat's moving fast. Nobody really uses the ping function in robbb either.

Proposed feature

Make !move more noticeable.

I have no clue how you'd make this better, some ideas off my mind:

Additional context

Hope you guys can do something about this so that #ricing-theming doesn't get a stick up their ass every time I mildly go off topic and miss the move. Or I might just be too stupid to notice the !move and if so, tell me. Either ways, thanks :ghosthug:

rainbow text

how?

changing the background of the embed

how?

If the move includes a ping, the "go away" message should ping as well as the "come here" message - currently it's just the "come here" message.

I don't really know how discord's embedding works, that part was more of, "use some method of making the embed stand out from the normal messages" Sorry for the stupid suggestions

eepykate commented 3 years ago

I mean technically embedding an image might work

auscyber commented 2 years ago

it could also be like a dm as well?

elkowar commented 2 years ago

I don't think a DM would help much

How about something like this: image (note that the police emote is animated, so it's pretty hard to ignore). The added "failure to comply might result in getting muted" I'm not too sure about, both because it seems way too unsure, and because it clutters up the message more, possibly actually making it more likely to get ignored,... any ideas are welcome - we can also just remove that part. I think the animated emotes with the bold text would already help a lot!

one other idea that had been floating around was to make a !movethread command or sth, that automatically opens a thread in the desired channel. That might make it a bit cleaner in general, and encourage actually following it more strongly - however it might also be used rather rarely, as running that would require the person running it to

i think that you could just block messages from people who were tagged in the !move. like delete them and then say "please move" or they can say !dontmove or something like that. and then they don't get blocked.
