New format for github.io site?

It would be nice to change the format for the github.io website.

At the moment it looks like a single "book" with chapters.

Ideally, I think we want it to have:

• A stable intro or index page ("welcome to our data website")
• A link to dashboards hosted on shinyapps.io
• A set of blog posts so people can read what's new. These probably want to be created once (e.g. on a developer laptop) then uploaded somewhere.

github.io may not even be the right format for this... we should see how e.g. blog.tidyverse.org does it.
