Use a free archive format

Why are all the packages available only as .rar?
Since this is a free software project, surely a free archive format should be 
used? Eg .zip, .tar(.bz2,.xz etc) or .7z?
RAR is nonfree and commercial, and requires users to agree to a EULA.

Hi alecjw,

I shall be releasing the newer version of Jaxl library at github over this 
weekend. There users shall get the package in .tar.gz and .zip formats.

closing this one... now stable version code tar.gz remain at google code while 
the development version code moves to github.
