Picked up rust as a language for fun. Decided to try it out with this project as a testbed

If successful, Should

shorten the road to supporting OSX & BSD
be able to add more intuitive named capture groups
allow additional parallelism

Progress is good, more learnings were had, fun language, like a more verbose golang that was obsessed with enums

Abandoning, wasted days trying to compensate for very lackluster ffmpeg, opencv, and image processing libs. Our proprietary libs are much more mature and oddly enough safer to use from a lines per mistake perspective. Its memory safety guarantee is largely a non-issue anyways for this project... don't think this project is its niche
