Per download service max connections setting #107

Open 9plan opened 7 years ago

9plan commented 7 years ago

Some download services balk or fail with high number of requested connections (more than 5) and others don't (can set at 10 or more). This feature would allow the user to set max connections from each service they use independently of the others.

I think service failures or balk on download are related to issue #82

Thanks for the feature suggestion!

When they fail, do they fail fast or do they download completely before being corrupted or failing at the last step?

9plan commented 7 years ago

Hi, Chris:

They get at least 2/3 to the end or even close to the end and appear to be completed successfully. But when uncompressing the files, they fail because they are corrupted. If not an archive, they cannot be opened.

Best regards

Marc

Uh oh, that's bad! Can you email a sample link to support@maxelapp.com and I'll take a look?

Hi Chris:

This one from rapidgator.net : http://rapidgator.net/file/939b57138ccf8f1bcd3c26ddd77cfd5e/Confirmation.MOV.html

This one is from Keep2s.cc : http://k2s.cc/file/2237d42b43472/Confirmation.MOV

This is a 700MB audition video from my son. Sorry it took awhile to get back to you.

Some other notes... if I set default connections to 5, it's slow but reliable. But any more connections and I see the corrupted files problem.

Best regards

Hi Marc @9plan

Do you have a premium account for keep2s.cc? I noticed when I tried to download it, my window looked like this: https://cl.ly/0N2o1330052q

Does it also have that yellow disclosure icon for you too?

It's important because it indicates that the server doesn't support multipart downloads

Best, Chris

Hi, Chris:

I have a premium account but you are right that Keep2s.cc does not support multipart downloads. But if I put the count higher (like 20) it does download faster.

Hi Marc,

I see, if you have a premium account then I’m guessing it does support multipart right? You’ll know because the progress bar actually fills in (on the free version it doesn’t know when the download will complete so it always looks filled and animated), and you won’t have a yellow triangle.

If that’s the case let me know because then I’ll have to buy a membership to try it out :)

Hi Chris:

I think K2C does support multipart downloads because when I add connections files download a lot faster. You might just buy an account for one month.
