Purging isn't always done with an immediate reload, so we should separate the purge from the load. For a quick hack, we can just have the script exit after the purge. Longer-term, it probably makes more sense to just totally separate the two operations. (And in fact purging may be easily done without a wrapper if it's a one-liner most of the time)
