You give your personas some life by talking also about their traits that are not directly related to the use of your system. But to become useful you'd have to do much more of this. The goal or benefit are using personas is, that we can wield all the requirements, user stories, etc. associated with a persona just by using their name. Of course, this only works if we do associate all this with the name. And in order for us to actually do, we have to have a very strong imagine before our minds eye of the persona we talk about. This is only going to happen if we feel like the persona is a close friend or even family member. So, we have to describe the persona to a level of detail that we feel they might just call to ask us to go to the beach together on the weekend. Where do they live? What do they like to eat? Are they very picky about food or do they eat just about anything? What countries have they visit? Do they even care about traveling? Etc. etc. etc.
