if i turn off the lightbulb of an object after it's been turned on, this doesn't make the object disappear for the audience but it means they don't see changes until i turn the lightbulb back on - for example, i turn off the lightbulb, move the object to another place, make it smaller and fade it out. then i turn on the lightbulb, and the audience sees the object move, shrink and fade out all at the same time.
however, if it's a multiframe object and i change the frame while the lightbulb is off, this change is almost like turning on the lightbulb for the audience - the audience see the object change to the other frame, and they see any other changes that have been made - but the object is also black & white, which is what only the player is meant to see, indicating that the lightbulb is off.
the audience should see the object stay as it was when the lightbulb was turned off, in colour, until the player turns the lightbulb back on again and then they see all changes happening together.
i can't really take a screenshot of this because it's across two laptops.
