I think a little explaination is useful. When the user select Live option then appear a text : Your stage will be available since the Foyer. Upcoming : Your stage is visible in UpComing event on the Foyer's page Rehearsal : Not visible for other but accessible for your player to rehearsal your cyberformance.

And the same for Clear Chat : to clear history of your chat Sweep Stage : what does this button ??? The other are auto-explaination

sweep stage clears it for example the 'held avatar' by another instance (as helen describes)

thanks, it's more clear now :) But i still think it's useful to inform the user in this page

helenvarley commented 3 years ago

how about this:

Live: the doors are open and the audience may enter! Upcoming: your Stage will be listed as an upcoming performance on the UpStage Foyer. Rehearsal: only you, and the players you have given access to, are able to enter this Stage.

helenvarley commented 3 years ago

for clear chat: actually at the moment, the chat does not persist anyway - every time i enter the stage, there is no chat showing. so we need to have a separate issue for that. the chat should show until it is "cleared". the "clear chat" button should remove all the chat from showing in the chat window on the stage.

"sweep stage" - this removes all media that has been placed on the stage, including text and drawings?

helenvarley commented 3 years ago

and another thought: what happens if the stage is swept while there are players on it? previously for the "reset stage" we had a warning, saying that it would reload the stage for everyone on it, do you really want to do this.

elisadcg commented 3 years ago

I suggest a explaination message on the mouse hover the button.

And a visible warning below the sweep Stage if issue detected with a text like : there is player on your Stage etc.

does the warning appear on click? hover message: explanation of what the button does pop-up warning if someone is on the stage: "Are you sure you want to (do whatever the button is)? There are currently players on the stage." (or similar message). sometimes in rehearsal or workshops we do want to sweep/clear when there are players on the stage, when it gets too crowded.

question: does sweeping the stage force a reload? or just removes all media that's on the stage? does it also clear saved text & drawing objects? & saved scenes?

Force reload is not necessary, all media on the stage will be cleared and every one that is watching will see them disappear.

does it also clear saved text & drawing objects? & saved scenes?

Text and drawings are saved "locally", which means they will only be cleared when you leave the performance/reload the browser (the same as these avatar that are never got the light bulb turned on). Saved scenes is more persistence, they will exists until you delete them. Clear the stage/refresh the browser won't clear saved scenes!

thanks. i think we need a "sweep stage" button (broom icon, @riadsalameh ?) in the on-stage settings tools as well as in stage management - it can be really useful to be able to clear things off in one go. actually the "new blank scene" also does that, but it could be good to have it in the same tool set as where we can do things like clear the chat.
