ALA Project: Migrate OzTrack server to new NeCTAR domain #40

Open m-hope opened 9 years ago

m-hope commented 9 years ago

As the QLD NeCTAR domain currently hosting the OzTrack server has closed down, we need to migrate the server to a new NeCTAR domain... probably the NCI domain based in CBR.

m-hope commented 9 years ago

Experiencing issues with bringing up the instance snapshot of the old server in a new domain... currently investigating rebuilding the server manually.

m-hope commented 9 years ago

Manual rebuild is also experiencing problems... Postgres is reporting a "PSQLE Exception error: Unknown geometry type" error when it tries to access any data.

Thanks Michael. There is currently no information on OzTrack.org that the site is undergoing maintenance. Is it possible to convey this information somewhere on the site? I just get a server time-out (spinning wheel) on Google Chrome and Microsoft Explorer.

That's strange... www.oztrack.org should be redirecting to a static page that says that the server is down for maintenance... are you not seeing that?

Hi Michael,

I’ve tried on Chrome, Firefox and Explorer on mine and my office mate’s desktop computers (Windows 7) and had no luck accessing the site. However, I’ve just tried to access the site over the 3G network on my iPhone (Safari) and received the “Oztrack is down for maintenance.” Message. After wiping the cookies from my iPhone and trying to access the site again on Safari via the UQ network (eduroam), I again had no luck accessing the site as the “server stopped responding”.

Perhaps this issue has something to do with UQ’s server, but I can’t think what the issue might be.

Hopefully this information will be of use to you.

Cheers, Ross

Thanks Ross,

I’ll look into it... We are working to get the site restored as quickly as possible, and hope to get it up by the end of the week.

Cheers,

Michael.

Issue with accessing Oztrack site from within UQ has been resolved with the removal of the slave zone for OzTrack from the UQ DNS tables.

m-hope commented 9 years ago

The migration of the OzTrack site to the new NeCTAR domain is now complete and the new site is now active. There still remains a minor issue in regards to authentication via AAF which is expected to be resolved shortly.
