Hulu skipping second section of episodes #136

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Turn on commercial breaks, set number to 0.
2. Watch Full Episode of New Girl (NBC) "Control"
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
The episode plays loading a new stream at each commercial break. However at
the first commercial break, the episode resumes after the second commercial
break instead, skipping an entire section of the episode. Interestingly, if
you try to replay the episode, it asks if you want to resume it after [m:ss]
(the 1st commercial break).

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
BlueCop 3.4.4, Hulu video plugin.

Please provide any additional information below.
I believe this has been an issue for a while now. There were certainly several
Daily Show's which seemed unusually short and it seemed as though I missed
entire sections of Jimmy Fallon as well.
* If you play all the way through the episode having skipped the second
section, if you reselect the episode then it asks if you want to resume from
the skipped section. However, it does not work to stop it and resume after the
commercial break because it resumes from the 3rd section, so is ineffective as
a work-around.
I confirmed that the second section of Tuesday's (March 20, 2012) Late Night
with Jimmy Fallon (NBC) is "missing" as well.
It's not just NBC programming, the Daily Show is skipping the second section as
well.
I didn't notice anything unusual about the commercial breaks when viewed
through a traditional webpage.

I wanted to check in to say that this is no longer an issue. Thanks for all
your hard work, Bluecop!

I am experiencing the same issue. What was the fix? Cheers,

I just found a fix for this. It's an ad setting. I edited my Hulu configuration
(System>Add-Ons>Enabled Add-Ons>Video Add ons>Hulu) and entered the Configure
menu. Under here you will see a section called Streaming. I upped my pre-roll
ads and trailing ads to the highest value, and also enabled commercial breaks,
and set that at the highest value. I was then able to see the beginning of
several shows I had issues with. Hulu may treat the first segment of a show as
some form of ad until the first commercial is over. Every time I had this issue
the show would start after the first commercial. Play around with the various
add settings and see values that can still get you the first segment of the
show without all the extra commercials. I haven't done that yet to find the
right combination. I am just happy it works now.

Still working at zeroes with 3.4.4 I have turned off autoupdate in xbmc. You
should give a specific example for bluecop to check... I would guess not all
shows have the same ad structure.

Maybe in a new thread though I guess this one is back at the top anyway.(?)

That's odd that it works for you at zeros. After I fixed mine, I noticed how
much I was missing of shows. Some shows were just more obvious than others. The
broken ones for me are The Voice, ONCE upon a time, Vampire Diaries, Jimmy
Fallon, SNL. I found the perfect setup - I have commercials disabled but
pre-roll and trailing ads set to 1. At these settings I get the whole show. If
I had either set to zero, I would miss the start of many shows, and for some
shows would miss the end. So this fixed it. I also don't have to deal with
commercials with the new settings. I don't know how other people aren't seeing
this. It happens on most all of my content. Glad it's working for you! Maybe we
had slightly different issues.
