We use AEO-Light constantly, but I haven’t been on facebook for several years, sorry.

I didn't start the group, but I'd love to see more users there. You were one of the only people to respond to a question I posted on the GitHub issues page (so thanks!).

Of course, just about 4 users on the Facebook group so far.

I would think there are a lot of people (hundreds? more?) who use AEO-Light on a daily basis, and am surprised there is not more sharing of tips and tricks anywhere that I know of (or even better documentation for the product).

Here is the last question that I posted on the FB group:

"Every now and then AEO-Light produces a file that is overmodulated/clipped, resulting in loud clicks in the sound. This cannot really be eliminated once it's there (unless you silence the noisy parts). When this happens, I'll run it through AEO-Light again, but I have not found any changes in the settings that will fix it for that film. Maybe something about the scan is problematic? It seems to happen more with variable density tracks., but sometimes with variable area also. Help!

Some noisier tracks will have the opposite problem -- too low -- but those I can often improve in Audacity (via Noise Reduction and/or EQ, then Amplify or Normalize)."

Is there already a group for this there? Or is this the place (issues section). I'm not very GitHub-savvy.

The more the merrier, I say.

@Jay-Schwartz a project maintainer simply needs to check a box in the administrative settings. It is a new github feature I became aware of through the postgrest project I follow: https://github.com/PostgREST/postgrest I just enabled it for one of my repos: https://github.com/bbito/onyx-webos-app - easy-peasy

I’ve turned on Github Discussions to help with information sharing. I didn’t know that GitHub had added this element—thanks for pointing it out.

It would be really helpful to have either meters or a display showing dBFS at very least for the New Sample.
Another useful feature would be to have the sw tell where peaks are occurring by frame number, and what their peak level is. This can make setup easier without having to wait for the complete render. If it’s possible to show peak in current New Sample, then setting for peaks would be easier. With variable density neg tracks in Hearst Newsreels Collection, there is a lot of variation in levels of the density tracks. Setting them to a good level without any clipping sometimes takes a few tries.

I made a discord server & Sub-Reddit for this community and the Gugusse Roller userbase which has a VERY closed facebook group and really needs more data sharing and colab as both projects combined are a perfect open-sorce pair for film ingest handling.
