This was fun. Importantly, I managed to get the Voronoi-based skeleton derivation working and so far seems to be fairly robust.
To be discussed today, not yet to be merged. Code needs to move.
Also, this probably does not cover all the cases of 4-node artefacts but I haven't had time to verify what is missing.
