Emoticon-only messages are not displayed

v0.1.2.0; WinXP x64

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Have another user send a message containing only a (single?) emoticon.

What is the expected output?
The text entered by the remote user.

What do you see instead?
Nothing.

Please provide any additional information below.
During a chat session, whenever another user sends a message containing
only (an) emoticon(s), the message is not displayed in the chat window.
However, when viewing the chat session on Facebook's web-based chat
interface, the message is displayed as normal.

I suspect it has something to do with Facebook getting fancy with emoticons
and turning them into images, as these are the ones I've had issues with.
