When I receive the phone verification SMS, it gives me a URL to follow to verify my phone. This has two flaws:
if I am not on a smart phone, there is no way for me to follow this link
if I am not logged in, it drops me to the home page, rather than the login page
Further, once I enter a phone number for verification and the SMS is sent, the link to "Add a phone number..." in the settings page should include a link to the page where I can enter my verification code manually.
As it stands, the combination of these flaws makes it extremely difficult to verify a phone number, especially on a device without a browser.
