Simply secure - Open Source Design forum. OSS and design focussed on security.

Simply secure have looked at a specific view

Specific focus is Humanitarian purposes as a pathway into OSS in general.

Designers don’t actually have a general humanitarian/tech for good view or lens. A disagreement here.

Telegram, Freema - encrypted

Blockchain projects & start ups - have great design

Driver = Cool new technology. Doesn’t mean that they care about OSS but they have an understanding.

Relevancy to current goings on.

OSD bigger hub bring it all together.

There are sections.

Had to check the Grenfell fire info - Participatory design is important and it’s good

Event structure - learning GitHub events important to keep in mind that it can be a huge waste of time. Design students a full week of working with them - the GitHub learning part was the most draining. If you teach git/Github - only do it with GitHub.com (ignore the terminal) Desktop client is complicated in a way that scares people. Oh it directly syncs commit, pull, files, etc. Upload files in web interface. Especially if your getting people in that have no GitHub exp.

Ubuntu - contact them!

Mentors from orgs/companies

Look at the London OSD chapter as mentors

Start a Nairobi chapter - East African

Name Open Design & Website doesn’t fully communicate the purpose and what we want to do. It’s very broad. Design for good is better than Open Design.

Really need to communicate the focus on Humanitarian part of Open Design.

Not clear if it’s a sub-project of Ushahidi, or community project etc.

Events - is interesting! Why aren’t they on the site. Front and centre. Events coming! in Fall to Winter of 2019. Make clear there are events.

RSVP for them!

Have been lots of organisations that do OSD and the email capture. Yet another mailing list!

Go to the OSD forum instead of a mailing list.

Nothing ever happened!

Talk to Aileen from simply secure. << also organised events.

Open source diversity - Ladies that FOSS. Wikimedia. Mentors, contributors etc. Berlin event!

Biggest problem is the set-up! CSS & HTML for designers code contribution for designers.

Sticker sheet - Photograph them & post in issues certainly much simpler.

A place where all this is collected and that is Open Source Design.
