Developer led/started.

Developers want to contribute

Keen to know about how open source works

Started working in Graphics and self taught graphic design The studied data science in Kyoto. Met some ML people and those interested in ML/AI in data

How can data science and design work together to make better products.

HDI - Human data interaction

San fran - Airbnb hackathon < we need designers! The build an open source data exploration project

How can I contribute more to OSS with design

Observed conversation in OSD.net

Pick projects to work on at the weekend

What are the problems designers have to get involved in OSD?

Daniel Burka - Simple.org Dehli. Healthcare project. Working on open source design.

Did open source design with Mozilla branded

Chris Messiner < articles on OSD

Governments foundation < non-profit in 2003. digitise municipal organisations in India.

Many urban cities > 8300 growing cities. Still the digital infrastructure is not greta especially in government. Built OSS system for data. Make better decisions with data. Hired a data analyst.

Egov < urban affairs. National urban analytics platform.

Experimenting on some OSD projects

GSoC program < student developer community. Mentors etc. and Google support this payment etc. What if we applied this same model to the design community.

National Institute of design 35 students to roll out a program.

Waste management system for India. < Problem statement.

Left eGov < A partner that has built communities in India (Maker community) building communities from scratch. How can we build an organisation to support non-profits design resources.

Started the research on org in India how they build tech etc. 85% non-profits in India are using OSS tech. In the Go OSS policies are very strong. How and where we are making an impact.

UN rep from Hyderabad > SDG 85% non profits are working toward solving SDG’s.

Tech + Non-profits = Problem statements = projects for designers/students.

Open Source market is healthy in India for citizen design.

Not every non-profit has a design team. But those people in consultancies and freelance don’t attach to the problem statement.

Doing work connected to SDG’s + impact area.

Apply for the fund YC W2020

Programs and projects.

How and where we can acquire designers for the problem statements.

Behance + Dribbble = Vanity projects.

These are the people that we should focus on.

Focus on students.

Eriol gave a run down of Open Design

Talked about the Summit for Open Source Design contributions.

Accountability from the project. The kudos of the contributions. Fellowships.

Invite all designers to the challenge. Design + Code together. Create the community first. How are you maintaining the community.

Good at designing programs google person?

How to keep the community.

IDEO design kit. How does Open Design platform work? Building an open design operations platform. Next year run the 1st fellowship and build this platform. Anyone can use it!

Partner with them to co-create.

Design documentation is a problem! or an issue.

Contribution community that is privilege. Existing community is geared towards those that have: time, access, ability etc.

Try community based and then global? Try out in India and then go global.

Funding the fellowship and SDG’s 16 billion+ to achieve SDG’s.

Rockerfeller & Omidiyar network. Fund 2 years for fellowships.

Are designers in non-profit ‘better’ than commercial designers? A big challenge!

Cluster the design teams and collaborate with other kinds of designers re. functions.

How we can work with design teams.

Fellowship design project.

Suggest a policy to government & design schools around open source design contribution.
