New solution for share (replace AddThis) #19

At some point, hopefully sooner rather than later, we need to fine a better way to generate than AddThis to generate share links. Is it possible to do this ourselves with web design instead of using third-party software? Problems with AddThis include:

It does not work (well) on mobile
The text of the URL pop-up is dumb ("Copy and paste this link into an email or IM.")
AddThis displays an ad for users to download their browser plug-in

This also has potential impact on the reporting functionality for shares.

@mereastew, @DeniseHenderson: If we are going to change this, maybe we should be aiming for the first sprint for this one, too, so we aren't stuck with the dysfunctional share buttons. What do we think?

We'd need to identify another solution. I don't think we want them building something from scratch. I'm not sure what else is federally approved with TOS. Sharethis is what NARA has a TOS for.

I think there are some things that the system could be doing better to make ShareThis more functional/usable - putting the title in the social media share (like on facebook, etc).

Meeting notes:

Need new requirements for selected metadata to be shared with AddThis? Current requirements are vague, don't say how sharing happens.
Search Tech may need to investigate before design meeting.
