The system currently uses file type data for a number of reasons, including determining thumbnail icons, determining whether to put an object in the image pane or "documents", and also as a filter refinement in brief results and advanced search. This file type is determined based on the data coming from DAS, which has some human error. It should be switched to the data being calculated by OPA for the file technical metadata, which is more reliable.
