This pull request has a few problems. When master was merged into branch Kevin the new way of importing classes from the appendage folder got appended below the old way instead of replacing it. Also is the utils/head file with the symbolic link needed? It looks like that was an earlier attempt and possibly should be removed.

I think I just meant to push it to my branch. I'm not done yet but thanks for catching that about core.py.
